Nordic Track treadmilss are another product
manufactured by Icon Health and Fitness. Icon Health and Fitness
is one of the largest producers of exercise equipment, world
wide. Subsidiaries of this company are Welso, Proform, Reebok,
and Weider.
Nordic Track treadmills fall in the mid class,
ranging from, around, $1000.00 to $2000.00 in price. So how
does Nordic Track compare to the Smooth
treadmills which are growing fast into the gold standard
of this price range?
Nordic Track treadmills, as mentioned above,
are feature filled. For example, they offer a funing deck,
which uses what they call a "Reflex Deck Technology".
In layman terms, it means that the deck flattens to absorb
the impact when you step down, and then returns to its original
shap by springing back. It's a very comfortable treadmill
to run on, but won't necessarily duplicate the demands of
a track or road, if that's what you're aiming for.
The electronic consoles, on a Nordic Track are
similiar to what you would find on a treadmill in a gym. Lost
of readouts and programs available. Smooth treadmills are
an equal match in this category as they also offer a complete
electronic console.
However, a good quality detector to keep an
eye out for is the warranty. Nordic Track employs something
called the "3-2-1 Warranty". This warranty covers
the motor for 3 years, the parts for 2 years, and the labor
fees for 1 year. Compared to Smooth treadmills, Nordic Track
doesn't stand a chance. Smooth offers a 10 year warranty on
most of its motors.
Generally, Nordic Track treadmills compare
favorably against the Smooth treadmills. Features such as
the motor strength and deck size are generous for their prices,
although as noted, Smooth offers a much better warranty.
Here are a few samples of the best value Nordic
Track treadmills in comparison to similarly priced Smooth
treadmills...
Nordic Track C2200 Treadmill
A lower priced Nordic Track treadmill, which
includes an average sized motor of 1.75HP, with a top speed
of 10mph. It offers a generous belt size and electonic console
for its price range. It's ability to fold uprights makes it
a favorite with consumers. In comparison, the Smooth
5.0P which also offers a folding upright option, includes
a more powerful motor, but smaller belt size.
Nordic Track 5100R Treadmill
A better run for your money, this Nordic Track
treadmill boasts a 2.5HP motor and a fairly large belt size.
It's top speed is 12mph and its electronic consold includes
30 preset work out programs. This model is space saver as
it also folds into an upright position. In comparison, the
Smooth 7.1 also an upright
folding treadmill, is similiar in features and price, but
offers a 10 year warranty on its motor.
Nordic Track 7100R Treadmill
With a top speed of 12mph, this Nordic Track
boasts a 3.0HP motor, which slightly beats Smooth's 9.2
treadmill Despite the fact that the power incline on the
Nordic Track is not quite as steep, it offers a generous deck
and belt size of 20x60 inches and, like it's lesser models,
is also foldable; unlike the Smooth 9.2. Combined with it's
elaborate console, which includes 30 present programs, the
Nordic Track 7100R is nearly a commercial quality treadmill
designed for the home. If you're going to buy a Nordic Track
Treadmill, this is the one to go with.
